Amsterdam

The Amsterdam was a better place than I've expected. Nice buildings, nice canals, and nice people.

I took ICE train from Frankfurt Hbf. When I arrived there, I really needed to go to the Water Closet. But it was not easy to find. Around platform 8 or 9, you can find it with a sign panel "WC". Be aware that it is a separate, underground place.
After paying the entrance fee, I found that there were no empty restroom stalls. At first, I thought that should I pay more? It was my first time to use public restroom, so I was so confused.
A warden told me that (Frankly, she gestured) most of restroom stalls are occupied by junkies. Soon I could recall that every foreign films show how to use public W.C. Every person who is going to use toilet in the film, spread toilet paper on the toilet.
Fortunately, the washroom was more cleaner than I'd expected.

After pooping, I went to the platform 18. But some engine driver told me that it was changed to platform 20. I almost missed the train.  

a shakiness was heavy than KTX, so it was not easy to write something down on the notebook. And please notice that WI-FI service is available until German territory.

The opposite of palace, you can find a big pillar. 

A carriage. Someone really wanted to take it. But it looks very expensive.

Near the city museum. 

Between the city museum and Van Gogh museum, you can find a big text. I should have taken a snap in front of this text. See you next time..

 In front of Van Gogh museum. I entered there (17 euro. If you need a device of audio explanation, then you should pay 4 euro more. It supports Korean audio.
Inside of museum, you can see lots of masterpieces of Van Gogh, a genuine Van Gogh.
And I didn't want to miss those chance.

Inside of TomTom building, 6th floor. You know, I went to the Amsterdam for business trip. 

Nice ship. It is belong to near a museum. If you want to go up this ship, then you should pay 15 euro. 

Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (Hbf, central station) tour

Hauptbahnhof → Euro Tower → Taunusanlage → Alte Oper → Große bockenheimer straße → Eschenheimer Turm → Der Kaiserdom → Goethe house → Hauptwache

It was my second visit to Hauptbahnhof. The weather was so good that I couldn't stay in my house.  

It's main station of Frankfurt. The day after tomorrow, I'll come back here to take an ICE. I'm supposed to go to the Amsterdam next week by train. 

When I get off the train, I saw a big building with an unique hat. At first, I planned to go to the Euro tower first, but I was not sure that it is the Euro tower. So I asked some old man. 

He said, "Yes it is. Look at the top of that building. You can see an unique ornament that it is a symbol of Euro."

So I went to the entrance of that building. but it was closed. So I went to another place. It turned out, It wasn't the Euro tower! Its name is Westend tower.

Is there a way to rotate above snap? Anyway it is Taunusanlage, Taunus garden. It was not impressive at all. 

It's an old opera hall. It's closed also. The only thing I could do at that place is, leaving.

Next, I just wanted to go to Große bockenheimer straße. But it was not easy to figure out where i am on the map. So I asked someone the way. Unfortunately, I omitted "Große" and there was a street that name is bockenheimer. It was opposite to my real destination. 

I found Rothschildpark on my wrong way. However, It looked good. So, if I have a chance to introduce Frankfurt to my son, then I'll bring him to here.

The entrance of Große bockenheimer straße, I could find TESLA exhibition. There were two types of car, first one was Model X, and second one was Model S. I could sit in the passenger seat. I could also push some buttons on screen, and it made door open/close. It looked cool.

I visited Der Kaiserdom again. Because Sebastian told me that I missed a great view of it. Behind of this building, there's a stair way to go to the top, but no elevator. I went up the stairs and it almost kill me. I also felt dizzy because of its spiral staircases.

TomTom City at intertraffic Amsterdam 2016 dictation

To become familiar with Barry Tremeer's speaking, I'm going to dictate his speech at below:

All we're demonstrating here at inter-traffic is TomTom city, which is launched this week, and it's a free to use at web site for public and for traffic planners, Don't have to register no subscription. And what we're showing is TomTom's assets how much we know about traffic information.

So, Here Amsterdam, for example, is showing the traffic flow the speed on the road at the moment, so it's the live information, we also have similar screen showing the incidents whether their road closures, and whether accidents or congestion.
So we also have underneath ..What's going on this screen.
Sorry This screens is a ... Can I use this screen instead? OK.


So we also have done both some here some indicators the every speed of the moment in the city, compared to the free flow speeds  they can get in quick indication as whether it is congested at the moment.
We also have the number of messages that were publishing so at the moment we have 4 general messages and 21 road closures in Amsterdam so the public can see very quickly how congested is. So we hope the people who use this free, maybe when they are planning a route going down to and from work or driving to the office in the morning.
So save it as your bookmark and use it freely and understand the traffic better in your city

Near park of Frankfurt Eschborn

When I spent a first weekend in German, I went to a park near my lodging. Mrs. Yun recommended there. The park is located near Pfingstbrunnenstrasse. It was cloudy day like other days in German. Quite literally, it was gloomy Sunday. 

I saw some weird houses in a center of park, with lots of homemade rides. I thought that these stuffs might be made by some students who studies in a near gymnasium.

There are huge field near the park. It's so big that I've ever seen. Korea has only small farms so I'd seen only small fields. 

Can you see a carriage with horses? They might relate to Sun-Sil Choi. 

In front of gymnasium, sheep mockup are located. I couldn't touch it because a low wall were laid, and I didn't want to climb over it. (Heinrich-von-Kleist-Schule)

Inside of park, there are small lakes with a large statue. Is it a duck or a crane?

Cute girl is feeding ducks. 

2017년 1월 7일 Hauptwache 지역 근처 투어

루트 : Hauptwache station → Paul 성당 → Römerberg (뢰머 광장) → 프랑크푸르트 대성당 (바르톨로메오) → kleinmarkthalle(시장) → Städel museum

Hauptwache 역을 나오자마자 볼 수 있는 성당. 문이 굳게 닫혀 있는 것 같아 굳이 들어가 보려 하지 않았다. 

Paul 성당: 성당은 성당인데, 성당으로서 유명하기 보다는, 민주주의 의회 회의가 진행된 곳으로 유서가 깊은 곳이다. 각 가문의 깃발들이 빼곳히 벽면에 자리하고 있었던 것, 내부에서 종소리가 은은하게 계속 울려퍼지는 모습이 인상적이었다. 

다음으로 간 곳은 뢰머 광장. 인터넷으로 검색해 보면, 사람들이 음청 바글바글하던데, 아마 날씨가 따뜻할 때의 사진일 듯 싶다. 저녁때 불켜진 뢰머 광장을 보게 되면 눈이 즐거워진다. 

프랑크푸르트 대성당. 처음 멀리서 볼 때 느껴지는 그 웅장함은 압도적이다. 다만 근처에 큰 건물이 다닥 붙어 있어서 웅장함이 반감된다. 건물 안쪽으로 들어가면 왼쪽에 기념품과 이것저것 전시해 둔 곳이 있는데, 성인 입장료는 4 Euro. 같은 티켓으로 바로 옆건물의 전시장을 관람할 수 있으나, 종교인이 아니라면 "돈아깝다". 주로 미사에 관련된 수의, 성체를 담는 그릇, 향그릇 등등이 전시되어 있는데, 갯수가 많지 않고 관련된 사람이 아니라면 그 값어치를 느끼기 어렵다. (심지어 나는 어렸을 적 복사까지 했었는데 이정도이니..) 바로 옆 전시장도 그리 크지 않다. 안가봐도 된다.

티켓을 사지 않아도 성당 안 미사드리는 곳을 들어갈 수 있는데, 이곳은 말로 표현하기 어렵다. 엄청나다. 둘러보는 내내 감탄했다. 실제로 미사를 볼 수 있을 만한 곳 처럼 보이던데, 미사를 실제로 진행하는지는 모르겠다. 

다음으로 간 곳은 kleinmarkthalle 이라는 전통시장(?)
안에는 요기를 때울 수 있는 소세지+빵 매장이 다닥 다닥 붙어 있다. (한 곳은 얼마나 맛있는지 사람들이 줄을 백명 가까이 서 있기도 했다.) 소세지 판매점 옆에는 신선해 보이는 과일점, 치즈전문점, 전통요리점, 빵집, 2층에는 스시(사시미) 전문점, 파스타 전문점, 시장 바깥에는 와인을 글라스 단위로 파는 노점상도 있었다. 주말에 싸게 끼니를 해결할 수 있어 좋아보인다.

이곳 입구에서 요기를 때운 후,

맛도 있고 싸지만(2.5유로), 사실 먹기에는 불편하다.

치즈가 맛있어 보이길래 시식한 번 해봤는데, 이건 한국인 입맛에 맞지 않는다. (시큼한 맛이 너무 강하다)

전문적으로 치즈를 파는 곳. 이곳에서도 역시 강한 맛을 가진 치즈를 판다. 현지인이 사는 것 똑같이 따라서 한번 사보려 했는데, 다행히도 점원이 한번 먹어보라길래 사기 전에 먹어볼 수 있었다. 맛이 너무 강해서, mild한 걸로 달라고 했고, 두번인가 more mild한 것을 달라고 한 다음에야 먹을만한 치즈를 살 수 있었다. (Fontal) 

다음으로 간 곳은 Trip adviser에서 Frankfurt 관광명소 1위로 꼽은 Städel 미술관이다. 사실, 걸어서 가기엔 너무 멀리 떨어져 있는 장소였지만, 산책 겸 해서 마인강 옆길로 쭉 걸어가게 되었다. 

미술관 입구. 입장료는 16유로. 적당한 금액으로 보인다. 현지인들이 가족과 함께 많이 찾는 곳이다. 입장료 사는 줄이 긴 편이다. 미술관 옆에 외투를 맡길 수 있는 보관소가 있다. 라커룸을 이용하던가 직원에게 직접 맡길 수 있다. 

맡기고 나서 이제 들어가 보면, 1,2층은 14세기~19세기의 미술품들이 전시되어 있고, 지하에는 현대 미술품들이 전시되어 있다. 

옛 친구의 표현처럼, 뤼미에르가 그린 유화의 붓놀림을 보며 전율을 느꼈던 그러한 심점을 똑같이 가져보고 싶었는데, 사실 특정인 한 사람만의 작품전시회라면 그게 가능했겠지만, 많은 작품들이 모여져 있는 곳에서는 그런 감정을 느끼기 어렵다. 역사적인 의미로서의 가치를 느껴야 했는데, 솔직히 방대하긴 했지만, 하나하나의 작품이 많은 공을 들였다고 느끼기 어려웠기에 (물론 내 눈이 막눈이라 놓친 것이겠지만) 인상깊지는 않았다. 

성을 주제로 한 곳 (세계 2차대전 전후에 여성의 입지가 넓어지면서 발생한 성 대결)은 사람이 어찌나 바글바글하던지. 

쭉 둘러보면서 그간 보아왔던 중세~현대유럽의 이미지들 중에서 독일의 문화/역사들을 추려내어, 어렴풋이 독일이란 곳을 이해하는 데 도움을 받을 수 있었다. 

미술관 안쪽 처음 전시되어 있는 작품

영어로 되어 있는 부분을 해석해 보자면, 

이 기증작품에 대해서는 아주 적은 문서들만이 스태댈 기록소에 보관되어 왔다. "Anna Louise Friederike Koch, nee St. George, 그리고 죽은 은행가 Peter Marcus Koch의 미망인"  세 작품의 기록은 다음 소망을 이야기한다: 세 장의 그림들 뿐 만 아니라 만여 점의 유물들은 그들의 소유주가 죽으면 스태댈 재단에 기증될 예정이다. (의역 포함)

Sebastian told me that there are lots of museums aside of Main river, and Stadel museum is the biggest one between them. I took above snaps near the river.  

When I across the Iron bridge, I asked someone to take an above snap. Behind of me, lots of locks are hanged up on a bridge rail, like Nam-San tower. (Sebastian know it exactly.)
